Decision Intelligence - Where Does it Fit?

Cloud Adoption, Agile Transformation, Application Rationalisation, eradicating Legacy Tech Debt, Tech Ops Optimisation, Operational Cost Reduction and Cyber Threat management have become omnipresent features on CxO agendas in recent years.

On one hand leveraging AI is clearly seen as a pathway to achieving goals across the above technology strategy priorities, and furthermore providing a capability for businesses to differentiate themselves against their industry peers.

At the same time, the rapid ascent of Artificial Intelligence technologies can be seen as a additive challenge. The breakneck speed and intensity of AI adoption’s rise to the forefront of CxO agendas is unparalleled – for example, the first enterprise Cloud offerings began in the late noughties (e.g. GCP & AWS in 2008, Azure in 2010) but the journeys for large enterprise to fully adopt still today remain in progress.

Just as Cloud Computing has gone through its own stages of maturation and demystification to make it a palatable option on a large enterprise scale, AI is progressing through that same adolescence right now. Whilst reported & social media focus seems only to draw attention to LLMs / Gen AI technologies, the true spectrum of AI technologies remains far broader, with its sub-domains offering distinct value and importantly presents differential branches for businesses to integrate the benefits of AI in a more controlled manner.

Expert Systems, Machine Learning, Gen AI (LLMs) and Decision Intelligence are the broad classifications we would parse AI solutions into.

Our specialist focus at E2Tech, in partnership with Merlynn I.T., is in Decision Intelligence. Whilst companies have fine tuned and implemented robust controls over traditional business disciplines, the attention of those businesses that lead the pack turns toward Decision Intelligence to maintain their differentiation. A recent publication by Deloitte (Decision intelligence: The human discipline of high-quality choices) puts the topic under the magnifying glass and really highlights why embracing Decision Intelligence is an action businesses should take now.

We won’t rewrite the excellent research of the smart minds at Deloitte, but we will clear the haze and position Decision Intelligence appropriately adjacent to the other types of AI offerings… take a look at the primer on the right…
